Baltic Dry Index drops d-o-d on softer iron ore demand

The Baltic Dry Index decreased by 0.4% (8 points) d-o-d to 2,121 on 25 Feb’26. The index dipped as Capesize weakness, driven by softer iron ore demand, offset gains in Panamax and Supramax, which were supported by steady coal, grain, and minor bulk activity.

  • Capesize: BCI dropped by 2.5% (79 points) to 3,128.
  • Panamax: BPI increased 1.3% (24 points) to 1,890.
  • Supramax: BSI rose 3.1% (38 points) to 1,255.
