Bahrain Iron Ore & Pellet Exports Down 26% in Q1 CY20

Bahrain iron ore and pellet exports in Q1 CY’20 recorded at 1.64 MnT, down 26% as against 2.21 MnT in Q4 CY’19.

Bahrain iron ore exports for the month of Mar’20 witnessed at 0.85 MnT as compared to 0.56 MnT in Feb’20

• Saudi Arabia stood largest importer of iron ore and pellet in Q1 CY’20 at 0.72 MnT, up 11% as against 0.65 MnT in Q4 CY’19.
• Oman stood second largest importer at 0.44 MnT, down 6% against 0.47 MnT in last quarter.
• Bahrain Steel – wholly owned company of Foulath Holding, has signed a 20 year agreement with Anglo American Marketing Limited for pellet supply for its plant in Hidd region. As per reports, demand for iron ore pellet is increasing majorly in Mena region with expected demand to reach 46 MnT by 2027. The contract will be a step ahead for the company to deliver quality product customers in the MENA region and beyond, relying on Bahrain Steel for their supply of DR pellets.
