Bahrain iron ore and pellet exports in Oct’19 recorded at 0.40 MnT, down 24% as against 0.53 MnT in Sep’19. On yearly basis, exports witnessed significant fall by 24% as compared to 0.52 MnT in Oct’18.
For CY19 (Jan-Oct’19) exports increased by 29% to 7.3 MnT as against 5.6 MnT in Jan-Oct’18.
• UAE stood largest importer from Bahrain for the month at 0.23 MnT, up 53% against 0.15 MnT in Sep’19. Chinese mills imports from Bahrain have dropped amid rise in winter production curbs
• Saudi Arabia stood second largest importer at 0.1 MnT up on monthly basis.
• Bahrain Steel – wholly owned company of Foulath Holding, has signed a 20 year agreement with Anglo American Marketing Limited for pellet supply for its plant in Hidd region. As per reports, demand for iron ore pellet is increasing majorly in Mena region with expected demand to reach 46 MnT by 2027. The contract will be a step ahead for the company to deliver quality product customers in the MENA region and beyond, relying on Bahrain Steel for their supply of DR pellets.
Bahrain iron ore imports down 23% in Oct’19
Bahrain imports of iron ore witnessed at 0.50 MnT in Oct’19, down 23% as compared to 0.65 MnT in Sep’19. Brazil stood the only exporter of iron ore for the month. On yearly basis, the imports fell 63% as against 1.34 MnT in Oct’18.
For CY19 (Jan-Oct’19) imports witnessed at 9.43 MnT, up sharply 34% against 7.04 MnT in CY18 (Jan-Oct’18).
