Australia’s coal exports fall to 28-week low due to heavy rainfall

Heavy rainfall in Australia’s New South Wales has resulted in a sharp decline in coal exports to 4.5 mnt during 3-9 Jul’22, the lowest in 28 weeks and down 36% w-o-w, as per CoalMint data. Shipments from Newcastle Port fell by 54% w-o-w to 1.4 mnt, while Gladstone Port saw exports falling by 25%. Coal deliveries from Newcastle Port continue to remain under pressure amid flooding in the main rail line.
