Australian producer Whitehaven Coal’s 10 mn t per year Vickery metallurgical and thermal coal project in northern New South Wales (NSW) has received approval from the government. Whitehaven had already received approval to extract 4.5 mn t of coal from Vickery and would have started the operations but the miner expanded mining capacity to 10 mn t in 2016.
