Australia: Rio Tinto’s aluminum production falls by 8%, y-o-y, in Q1CY’22

Rio Tinto has reported 8% lower aluminium production at 0.7 mnt in the Q1CY’22 as against the same period last year.
Production dropped due to reduced capacity at the Kitimat smelter in British Columbia following a strike which commenced in Jul’21. Operations may resume in Jun’22.
However, bauxite production at 13.6 mnt in Q1CY’22 remained stable as against the corresponding period of last year.
