Pilbara Ports Authority (PPA) has shut Ashburton, Cape Preston West, Dampier and Varanus Island ports as of 09:00 AWST on 26 Mar’26 due to Tropical Cyclone Narelle. Officials said the system is likely to intensify to Category 4 (very powerful storm), with gale-force winds already impacting coastal areas. This may impact iron ore export shipments as Dampier exports are close to 150 mnt in CY’25.
