Australian Non-coking coal exports were recorded at 13.37 MnT in Sep’17,according to the vessel line-up data compiled by CoalMint Research. Monthly exports were 5% higher in comparison with the previous month’s export of 12.69 MnT.
Total Non-coking coal exports have reached 123.05 MnT during the first 9 months of CY17 (Jan’17-Sep’17), which accounts for 46% of the total exports recorded for the same period.
Major Coal Importers:
Japan remained the major coal importer from Australia in Sep’17 followed by South Korea, Taiwan, China, Malaysia and Vietnam.
Japanese coal imports were recorded highest during the month at 5.72 MnT, but were down 15% M-o-M compared with 6.75 MnT in Aug’17.
South Korea became the second-largest coal importer; with an increase of 91% M-o-M in imports to 2.09 MnT.
Taiwan was the third-largest coal importer during the month. Imports from the country rose 16% M-o-M to 1.88 MnT.
China dropped to fourth place, despite registering a growth of 13% M-o-M in imports to 1.88 MnT. Indian Coal Imports from Australia jumped 196% on the month to 0.24 MnT in Sep’17.
Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Chile, Indonesia and Hong Kong were the other major coal importers during the month.

Non-Coking Coal Discharging Ports:
Coal shipments from Newcastle port were 13.19 MnT in Sep’17, while the remaining coal quantity of 0.18 MnT was handled by Port Kemble.
