NPC, world’s leading Coking and Non-coking Coal exporter has reported a jump of 11.4 per cent in Coal shipment during week ended 23 Dec, 2013.

*W-o-W shipment increased by 11.4% to 3.8 MnT
*Port targets to ship 12.9 MnT of Coal in December
During the week under review, NPC has shipped around 3.8 MnT of Coal in a week and total of 9.3 MnT of the Coal has been shipped to different destinations in the December month so far.
For the current month (December, 2013) port has forecasted to ship around 12.9 MnT of Coal. However, on the basis of current situation, port authorities are estimating to ship around 13.1 MnT Coal in December, on the basis of actual shipped and projected balance from the Coal terminal.
The Port has also reported that during the week ended on 23 Dec , 2013, 39 vessels entered in the port for loading with an average waiting time of 3.16 days. However, during the preceding week, around 38 vessels had entered the port with an average waiting time of around 4.05 days.
At the end of the week, 8 vessels had loaded Coal, 7 vessels were waiting to get loaded and 24 vessels were expected to reach the Port.
Over the slightly increased demand from Asian market, Australian thermal Coal prices has gained (USD 0.25-0.50/MT) a little. It is noted that Australian 6,000 NAR Kcal/kg Coal offered at USD 85-86 per MT on FOB basis. However, Coking Coal market was silent last weekend and it is noted that, Hard Coking Coal (CSR 71% and VM 21.5%) was offered at USD 152-153/MT on FOB basis.
