Australia: Mount Pleasant coal mine expansion faces legal action

Salim’s MACH Energy Australia has applied to expand Mount Pleasant high grade thermal coal mine in New South Wales to 21 mnt/year run of mine capacity, and extend its lifespan from 2026 to 2048. However, the plan has faced legal action from Australian environmental group saying the approval will endanger a species of reptiles.
