Australia: Major coking coal export terminal declares force majeure amid heavy rainfall

Australia’s major coking coal exporting port, Port Kembla in New South Wales, declared force majeure on 8 Mar’22 amid heavy rainfall. The region has been receiving persistent rainfall since the last 14 days resulting in a significant decline in coal stocks at the port. Kembla exported 7.16 mnt of coal in CY’21, about 2% of the country’s total exports.
