Australia’s leading iron ore mining firm, Fortescue Metals Group (FMG), has temporarily suspended operations at its Solomon iron ore hub this morning following the death of a worker in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Reports abounded of a ground collapse at the site accounting for 75 mn t/year of iron ore. The Solomon hub is expected to remain closed for one-two days.
