Australia: BHP formally opens the South Flank mine in Pilbara

BHP Group has officially opened its new South Flank iron ore mine in the Pilbara region, Western Australia. South Flank is Australia’s largest new iron ore mine in over 50 years. When fully operational it will produce 80 mn t of iron ore per annum, and together with the existing Mining Area C, will produce 145 mn t/year of premium iron ore.
