Australia bans coal mining project to protect environment

Australia’s newly formed government announced a ban on development of a coal mine due to the potential impact on the nearby Great Barrier Reef. The reef comprises of endemic species. The mine is the part of Central Queensland coal project and has a capacity of 10 mnt. The ban would affect planned development of another 26 coal mines.
