Australia: AGL Energy to shut down coal-fired power plant in 2035

AGL Energy, the largest electricity generator of Australia, is planning to shut down its 2,210 MW Loy Yang A brown coal-fired power plant in Victoria in 2035. The plant currently supplies a huge chunk of Victoria’s energy. AGL makes the announcement after the Queensland state government’s plan to shift away from coal power by 2035.
