A 25,000 t of Australian 6000 kcal/kg NAR grade coal has been booked at $334/t FOB for February-loading. A Jan’23 loading cargo was booked at $349/t. Weak bulk enquiries from Europe have pulled down Australian coal prices by 40% from their peak in Mar’22. Shipments to the Netherlands and Italy were nil in Oct’22 as power companies reduced coal purchases in a bid to bring down emissions during the winters.
