Australia: 6000 NAR coal prices shoot up to $452/t

Australian 6000 kcal/kg NAR grade coal prices have risen sharply to $452/t FOB today. Although there is no fundamental change in demand-supply dynamics, procurement from Japan is set to increase after its decision to ban Russian coal imports on 9 May’22. Japan usually relies on high-CV coal for its power plants. Prices of 5500 kcal/kg NAR also are higher at $210 on FOB basis.
