ArcelorMittal South Africa to restart furnace on rising demand

ArcelorMittal South Africa is restarting its second blast furnace at the Vanderbijlpark operations due to rising steel demand amid resumption of lockdown-affected construction projects in the country, SteelMint gleaned from media reports. The steel-maker informed the furnace would add 0.6 mn t of additional annual flat steel production. However, exports would still be required at the current demand expectations for 2021.
