Sluggish atmosphere continues to engulf the Indian Anthracite coal market.
Import affinity continues to be at the lowest among Indian end-users.
In the meantime, import offers have also remained stable at the rate assessed last. According to a reputed importer, the latest offers are assessed at around USD 96/MT, CFR India.
Availability of cheaper alternate fuels, like Petcoke and other forms of coal, has curtailed demand for the high-priced Anthracite coal.
During Mar’16, a meager quantity of 64,900 MT was imported into the country, according to SteelMint Research. The quantity was imported by two importers—Jindal Steel & Power Limited and Rashmi Metaliks, with the respective quantities of 38,500MT and 26,400 MT .
