Anthracite Coal Offers Remain Standstill amid Weakest Demand

Anthracite coal offers have remained stable with affinity for importing among Indian buyers have reached rock-bottom.

According to a reputed importer, import offers have undergone no change from the last assessment and stood at USD 92-93/MT, CFR India.

Lackluster demand for Anthracite coal has persisted as end-users have preferred the available cheap alternate fuels. Prices of coke and other forms of coal have receded in both domestic as well as international markets, eroding demand for comparatively higher priced Anthracite coal.

SteelMint research shows that no import consignment had landed at any Indian port in Jan’16, upto the 18th of the month.

The Indian government has revised the customs exchange rate for import to INR 68.40 per USD.
