Anthracite Coal Offers Remain Stable, Imports Jump in Nov’15

Anthracite coal offers have remained stable at USD 89-90/MT, CFR India.

Alongside, sluggish demand continued to persist in India.However, demand from the steel industry has improved off-late as evidenced by the notable jump in the quantum of imports landed at Indian ports during Nov’15.

Notably, imports during last month totaled at 81.950 MT, a quantum jump from the import of only 8,500 MT in Oct’15.As a matter of fact, imports during last month accounted for the 2ndhighest in terms of volume during the first eight months of the current fiscal. During Apr’15, 100, 250 MT of Anthracite coal was imported into the country, SteelMint data shows.

During Nov’15, JSW Steel imported the highest volume of 20,000 MT; followed by Essar with 18,300 MT.
