Anthracite Coal Offers Jump USD 15/MT, Responding to Higher Coking Coal Prices

Anthracite Coal offers have exhibited rising trends, mainly due to the uptick in Coking Coal prices of late.

The latest Anthracite Coal offer is assessed at around USD 130/MT CFR India, which is up by approximately USD 15/MT from the offer assessed the week last.

Demand in the Indian market continues to be lackluster as buyers prefer alternate fuels. There is also no prospect of the demand improving in the country in the future.

IMPORTS

There was no major import of the coal due to the sluggish demand. According to the data compiled by CoalMint Research, only 42,500 MT of Anthracite Coal was imported in the country during the 1-12July’17 period.

The importers were: Jindal Steel and Power Limited and Tata Steel.
