Anthracite Coal imports in India remain insignificant as the users prefer alternate fuels. During Nov’17, the imports of the coal in the country were at 103,380 MT, and interestingly the import volume was lower by around 16% over the imports of 123,200 MT in Oct’17, according to the data collected by CoalMint Research.

On year-on-year comparison, the imports during the month were interestingly higher by around 34% against the imports of 77,300 MT in Nov’16.
Argentina and Russia were the only two regions of import during the month under review. And the only importers were: Jindal Steel and Power Limited, IMFA, Essar and Rawmet.

In the meantime, there was also no change in the offers for the coal from the key international markets. Supply shortage of Breeze Coke in China has prevented any downturn in the Anthracite Coal prices, as both the commodities could be used in place of the other.
The latest offers were assessed at around USD 135/MT CFR India, unchanged from the week-ago offers.
