Anthracite Coal Import Offers Sink USD 5/MT on Price Parity Effect

Anthracite Coal import offers have fallen further, following the declining trend in respect to other coal types.

But, the news of falling prices of Anthracite Coal will fall into deaf ears of Indian buyers as there is almost no affinity among them for using the coal type. Demand for the coal has remained sluggish, and there is no prospect for any improvement in the future.

The latest import offer for Anthracite Coal is reported lower at USD 110/MT CFR India, which is down by around USD 5/MT from the week-ago rate.

IMPORTS

It is needless to say that there has been very less imports of the fuel as fallout of the lackluster demand. During the 1-17Mar’17 period, only 55,000 MT of the coal was imported into the country, data compiled by CoalMint Research shows.

The only importers were: Essar Steel and Jindal Steel and Power Limited.
