Anthracite Coal Import Offers Rise by USD 3/MT

Anthracite coal import offers have gone up by around USD 3/MT.

The increment in offers has not affected domestic market as thin trading activities are prevailing. Traders said that demand is continued to be low.

According to an importer, recent offers have risen to around USD 87-88/MT, CFR India. He attributed rise in offers to supply shortages.

A trader said that market prices have not changed due to prevalence of weak demand, and assessed at around INR 6,000/MT.

Meanwhile, Anthracite coal import into the country has fallen due to weak demand. During Sept’15, imports fell to 29,300 MT- the 2nd lowest import volume during H1 FY16. The 1stlowest import consignment during FY16 was recorded in May’15at 22,000 MT.
