The Anthracite Coal market in India continues to be in a grim state, without any affinity among the buyers to import the coal.
Global offers also have remained unchanged at the last known rates. The latest Anthracite Coal offer is assessed at around USD 136/MT CFR India, unchanged from the week-ago rate.
In India, there is no prospect of the coal market to undergo any upturn in the future.
In an international round-up, Anthracite Coal stocks at the thermal power plants in Ukraine were heard to fall by around 3.7% to around 544.6 ‘000MT during the last four weeks. Also, in Sep’17, 1.3 MnT of Anthracite Coal was mined in Pennsylvania of USA, and that is a gain of around 8.6% year-on-year.
Anthracite Coal imports have remained insignificant in India due to the lackluster atmosphere. During Sep’17, only 138,500 MnT of the coal was imported in India, data collected by CoalMint Research shows.
The importers were: Essar Steel, Electrosteel Casting, Sri Kalahasthi Pipes and JSW Steel.
