Anthracite Coal Global Offers Stay Stable, No End to Sluggish Demand in India

The atmosphere in the Anthracite Coal market in India has remained grim as the buyers in the country preferred using alternate fuels instead of the coal.

Global offers for the coal were also higher as Coking Coal prices had risen significantly in the key international markets. On a week-on-week basis, there was however no change in the offers for Anthracite Coal.

The latest offer for Anthracite Coal is assessed at around USD 135/MT CFR India, unchanged from the week-ago offer.

The future outlook for the Indian market is bleak, with almost no prospect for the demand to improve.

Anthracite Coal imports in India have remained insignificant due to the sluggish demand prevailing in the country. During the 1-13Sep’17 period, only 70,300 MT of the coal was imported in India, data compiled by CoalMint Research shows.
