West Bengal based integrated steel maker – Ankit Metal & Power has resumed iron ore sourcing after a span of 9 months in Oct’16. It had last procured 13,460 MT iron ore in month of Jan’16 following which no iron ore sourcing was seen by the steel maker.
In the month of Oct’16, the steel maker is seen sourcing iron ore from Odisha based merchant miners via rake movement.
Ankit Metal & Power is an integrated steel plant to produce 0.1 MnT pa of rolled products comprising of sponge iron, steel melting shop, billets and rolling mill along with captive power plant.
The steel maker has sponge iron making capacity of 0.21 MnT pa and a pellet plant of 0.6 MnT pa capacity.
As per market sources report to SteelMint, the steel maker has resumed production at its sponge iron and billet units this month.
In CY14 the steel maker procured 0.39 MnT iron ore and in CY15 it sourced 0.37 MnT iron ore.
