In a bureaucratic reshuffle, the Government of India (GoI) has shifted Anil Swarup from the Coal Ministry to the Education Ministry; replacing him with Susheel Kumar, who has been the Secretary in the Department of Border Management of the Home Ministry.
Anil Swarup, an IAS Officer of the UP cadre, was brought in to Coal Ministry as the Secretary in Oct’14 from the Cabinet Secretary where he was serving as the Additional Secretary.
During his tenure in the Coal Ministry, he had entirely transformed the facet of the coal production scenario, transforming production in the country from deficit to surplus.
