- Anglo American’s Kumba iron ore production increased by 6% to 15.7 mn t in Q2 CY’21 due to comparatively lower impact of Covid-19 lockdowns compared with Q2 CY’20.
- Production at Minas Rio dropped to 5.9 mn t (on wet tonne basis), down 5% against 6.2 mn t in Q2 CY’20 on unplanned maintenance at the beneficiation plant.
- Iron ore production guidance for CY’21 has been tightened to 64.5-66.5 mn t (Kumba at 40.5-41.5 mn t and Minas Rio at 24-26 mn t). The guidance rules out further COVID-related disruptions as well as discontinuity of rail operations at Kumba.
