ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India announced commencement of mining operations at its Thakurani iron ore block (Keonjhar, Odisha) which it had recently won in auctions. With an estimated 180 mn t reserves and EC limit of 5.5 mn t, the block will meet about 75% of current requirement for its Odisha based manufacturing facilities.
