Ship-breaking melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang market increased by INR 300/t d-o-d on 15 Jun’26, with HMS (80:20) assessed at INR 35,300/t ($373/t) ex-yard by BigMint. Semi-finished steel prices remained unchanged, while finished steel prices saw a mild correction in the previous session. Sentiment in Alang remained subdued amid historically low vessel arrivals, as strong freight economics continue to encourage shipowners to keep older vessels in service, restricting scrap inflows.
