India: Mill scale prices edge up in Kandla and Jalna, stable trend continues in Raipur

Mill scale prices across Raipur, Kandla, and Jalna reflected largely firm trends as of 13 May 2026. According to BigMint’s latest assessment, Fe 69% mill scale prices in Kandla rose by INR 50/t ($0.5/t) to INR 9,150/t ($96/t) DAP compared to 9 May while in Raipur prices remained stable at INR 7,200/t ($76/t) exw as compared to 9 May. Meanwhile, Jalna prices edged up by INR 50/t ($0.5/t) to INR 7,050/t ($74/t) ex-works against 6 May’26.

In Kandla, mill scale prices increased amid elevated seller offers, although trading activity remained subdued with no major deals reported during the publishing window. Prices continued to find support due to constrained material movement from Jalna, while local supply flows remained largely unaffected but witnessed slight pressure from higher freight rates.

In Raipur, mill scale prices remained firm as sellers continued to offer material at elevated levels, while buyers largely restricted purchases to immediate requirements amid expectations of a near-term price correction. “We have slowed our buying as our previously booked orders have been completed; now we will purchase only at lower prices,” a Raipur-based trader told BigMint. Additionally around 1,500 t of deals were concluded at INR 7,200/t ($76-79/t) exw.

In Jalna tradable levels remained high as mills kept offering high, eliminating any discounts; while traders accepted the prices in expectations of any further price support in the near term. Though , semi-finished steel segment and end-user demand remains strained; mill scale prices are unlikely to cool-off in the nearing week. Around 1,500 t of trades were recorded at INR 7,000-7,050/t ($73-74/t) exw.
