Coal Production from Captive coal blocks
According to the Ministry of Coal, the Coal Controller Organization has reported total coal production from allocated captive coal blocks was 2.617 MnT in Sep’17.
Moreover, Out of the total coal production, production from coal blocks which have not been cancelled by the Supreme court viz Tasra, Pakri Barwadih and Moher and Moher Amlori extension was 1.383 MnT during the month.
OMDC signs deal for Brahmani coal block
Orissa Minerals Development Company (OMDC) has signed Coal Block Development and Production Agreement (CBDPA) with Ministry of Coal in Sep’17.
Brahmani coal block located in Odisha has an estimated reserve of 58.9 MnT coal, was allocated to OMDC in 2013, and was given approval for commercial mining from the block back in Jul’16. Since then the company was yet to sign CBDPA contract with Ministry of Coal.
Total coal production from Odisha state during 2016-17 was 139.208 MnT, according to the Department of Steel and Mines, Government of Odisha.
