Thailand Billet Imports Stable, September 2017

As per recent released data by Thailand customs it is observed that the nation has imported about 180,000 MT Billet in September 2017.

The imports have marginally increase approximately 6% M-o-M in Sep’17 against 170,000 MT in Aug’17 & Sep’16. During Aug’17, Iran has exported more than 55% (100,000 MT) of Billet to Thailand.

Coming to total imports in Jan-Sep’17, the nation has imported about 1.50 MnT Billet; down by 54% as compared to 3.26 MnT in the same preceding last year.

In the duration of Jan-Sep’17 – Iran, Japan & Brazil was the major Billet exporter to Thailand which exported about 0.61 MnT (40.54%), 0.26 MnT (17.16%) & 0.11 MnT (7.20%), respectively.

Presently, the export offers of Billet are assessed at USD 470-480/MT FoB India.

India continues to remain the largest Pig iron supplier to Thailand

In 2017 (Jan-Sep) – India, Brazil & Vietnam was the major pig iron exporters to Thailand which exported about 160,000 MT (55.44%), 40,000 MT (14.60%) & 20,000 MT (8.16%), respectively.

While, in September 2017, it is observed that the nation has nil imports. Prior to this, on M-o-M in Aug’17 it increased about 66% to 50,000 MT against 30,000 MT in July’17.
