Met Coke imports in India had fallen by around 11.1% in Sep’17 over the imports in the previous month, shows an analysis done on the import data compiled by CoalMint Research.
Buyers in India had lowered imports as the export offers touched high rates, mainly driven by the significantly higher Coking Coal prices in Australia. Coking Coal prices had sky-rocketed in Australia due to the strong demand from Chinese steel makers. However, the sign of Met Coke offers declining in the near future had appeared on the horizon towards the later part of Sep’17, when the demand for Coking Coal in China slowed down due to the imminence of steel production cuts in that country.
In Sep’17, around 0.24 MnT of Met Coke was imported in India, and that was lower than the imports of 0.27 MnT in Aug’17.
