India-JSW Crude Steel Production Increase Marginally in Q2 FY18

JSW Steel’s crude steel output has increased 1% in Q2 FY18 over Q1 FY18. Flat steel production increased by 5% Q-o-Q while that of long steel fell by 7%.

JSW Steel – India’s largest steel maker has witnessed marginal increase in its crude steel output by 1% Q-o-Q basis to 3.94 MnT in Q2 FY18 which was assessed at 3.91 MnT in Q1 FY18.

However the steel maker has observed the slight drop of 1%Y-o-Y basis in its crude steel output in Q2 FY18 which was 3.98 MnT in same time period previous year.

Flat steel production rose by 5% Q-o-Q basis in Q2 FY18 – JSW Steel’s flat steel output surged by 5% to 2.89 MnT in Q2 FY18 against 2.76 MnT in Q1 FY18.However on yearly comparison, it was slightly up by 1% against Q2FY17.

Long steel output decline sharply 7% on quarterly basis – JSW Steel’s long steel production stood at 0.77 MnT in Q2 FY18 compared to 0.83 MnT in Q1 FY18, down 7% Q-o-Q basis. However on yearly premise it fall by 3% compared to Q2FY17.

However if we make a half yearly performance comparison, JSW Steel’s crude steel output has remained majorly stable in H1 FY18 versus H1 FY17.

JSW Steel is India’s largest steel maker in terms of production and achieved 26% Y-o-Y growth in its crude steel output in FY17 with output of 15.8 MnT. The steel maker achieved 100% production guidance laid in the last fiscal. The company has three plants located in Vijayanagar, Dolvi and Salem and has a total crude steel making capacity of 18 MnT pa.
