Brazil Iron Ore Exports Rise 4% M-o-M in Sept’17

Recent trade statistics released by Brazil Customs show that the country has exported around 33.4 MnT iron ore in Sept’17. Brazil iron ore exports were up by 4% M-o-M against 32.1 MnT in Aug’17. However the exports were down by 5% Y-o-Y for the month of Sept which were at 35.3 MnT in Sept’16.

Vale’s iron ore exports up 3% M-o-M in Sept’17 – According to data provided by Inchcape Shipping Services, Brazil, – the country exported 33.44 MnT iron ore via sea route. Vale, the world’s largest iron ore producer exported around 84% of iron ore via sea route of the total Brazil exports. In Sept’17, the miner exported 28.10 MnT iron ore via sea route against 27.18 MnT in previous month Other major exporting companies were – CSN – 3.03 MnT, Anglo American – 1.63 MnT and Trafiguara – 0.67 MnT.

China’s iron ore imports from Brazil stable on monthly premises – China, the largest iron ore importer of Brazilian iron ore imported around 62% (20 MnT) of total Brazilian iron ore exports in Sept’17 via sea route, followed by Japan, South Korea and Malaysia. China’s iron ore imports from Brazil have remained stable on monthly premises, while that of Japan and South Korea witnessed increase.

Tubarao port iron ore exports up 19% in Sept’17 – Ponta Da Madeira accounted for 40% share in Sept’17 Brazil iron ore exports. Other major ports for Brazilian iron ore export were Tubarao port and Guaiba port. Iron ore exports from Tubarao port increased 19% from 8.05 MnT in Aug’17 to 9.57 MnT in Sept’17.
