Indian Manganese Ore Imports Down by 6% in Aug’17

India imported around 0.33 MnT of Manganese Ore in Aug’17 against 0.35 MnT in Jul’17.

According to Customs data, Indian Manganese Ore import has marginally gone down by 6% M-o-M to 0.33 MnT in Aug’17, as compared to 0.35 MnT in Jul’17.

On Y-o-Y basis, India’s Manganese Ore imports rose by a massive 183% in Aug’17 against Aug’16. In Aug’16 the same stood at 0.12 MnT.

India relies heavily on Manganese Ore imports, and half of its Manganese Ore requirement is fulfilled through imported Ore. South Africa remained the largest exporter of Manganese Ore to India in Aug’17 at 0.20 MnT followed by Australia and Gabon at 0.07 MnT and 0.04 MnT respectively.

Imports from South Africa to India remained unchanged in Aug’17 on M-o-M basis at 0.20 MnT. However, Australia regained its position of being the second largest exporter of Manganese Ore to India followed by Gabon.
