There is no change in the Anthracite Coal market in India in terms of the demand pattern. Demand continues to be lackluster, and there is no prospect for any upturn in the demand in the future.
The global offers also have remained unchanged. The offers have undergone upturns in the recent past due to the rising Coking Coal prices. As a matter of fact, Anthracite Coal can be blended with Coking Coal during the steel making process.
The latest international offer for Anthracite Coal is assessed at around USD 135/MT CFR India, unchanged from the week-ago offer.
In an international round-up, South Korea based South East Power Company will purchase 760 ‘000MT of Anthracite Coal between Nov’17 and Mar’18, according to the information received.
In India, imports of the coal were insignificant due to the prevalence of sluggish demand. During the 1-20Sep’17, only 94,500 MT of the coal was imported in the country, data compiled by CoalMint Research shows.
The importers were: JSW Steel, Kalahasthi Pipes and Electrosteel Casting.
