Dispatches of chrome ore by Odisha miners have increased by around 9% in Aug’17 against Jul’17.
Odisha contributes entirely towards Indian Chrome Ore production. TATA Steel, being, one of the largest miners in the region dispatched 101,759 MT of chrome ore in Aug’17 against 101,324 MT in Jul’17. The company has witnessed a mere decrease of about 1% in the dispatch of the commodity on M-o-M basis. TATA Steel only held 4,575 MT for captive consumption in Aug’17 which is around 43% lower than it was in Jul’17.
OMC, on the other hand, recorded a substantial increase of 50% M-o-M in its Aug’17 Chrome Ore dispatches. OMC dispatched 72,457 MT of Chrome Ore in Aug’17 against 48,238 MT in Jul’17. Jindal Stainless was the major buyer of Chrome Ore from OMC in Aug’17. Also, Balasore procured Chrome Ore from OMC in Aug’17, which it hadn’t in Jul’17.
