Glencore’s Hunter Valley coal mines resumes operation:
Operations at the Hunter Valley coal mines have resumed, as coal workers return back to work after 11 weeks of strikes.

Coal supply from Hunter valley coal mine was affected by series of strikes by workers demanding security of employment, the use of casual labor by the company, and redundancy terms for retrenched workers.

The industrial dispute erupted into strikes in early-Jun’17, starting with the Liddell and Mangoola mines, before spreading to the Glendell, Ravensworth and Bulga mining complexes later that month.

The beginning of talks to negotiate workers demand between Glencore and workers’ union will help normal coal supply to resume from the mines.
