Met Coke imports in India had declined by 8.16% in Jun’17 over the imports in May’17, according to an analysis by CoalMint Research.
In Jun’17, around 0.45 MnT of Met Coke was imported in India; and that was down from the imports of around 0.49 MnT in the previous month.

On a year-on-year comparison, the imports in the month under review increased by around 28.57% against the imports of around 0.35 MnT in Jun’17.
A break-up of the countries of import during the month shows that Met Coke imports from Columbia were significantly up from that in the previous month; while, there were decrements in the imports from the other countries.

Out of the various ports in the country, the Paradip port had handled the highest volume of Met Coke import traffic during the month; followed by the Mormugao, Hazira and Mangalore ports.

The decline in the imports could be attributed to the shrinkage in demand in the country.
