Indian pellet exports have grown by 97% Y-o-Y for the first quarter of FY18 with the quantity of 1.64 MnT pellets exported compared to the quarter one in previous fiscal at 0.84 MnT pellets.
There was an increase of 8% in Jun’17 with 0.60 MnT pellets against 0.55 MnT exports in May’17.The exports were up 20% Y-o-Y for the month of Jun compared to the quantity of 0.50 MnT in Jun’16.
BRPL was the largest pellet exporter in Jun’17. The demand for Indian pellets in China sustained this month as well and an increase in spot pellet premium have continued to push its export for the month of Jun’17.

East India pellet makers continue to export pellets to China: East Coast pellet exporters continue to export pellets to China. Paradip 0.33 MnT with 55% share of total exports, Dhamra with 0.16 MnT material 27% share followed by Mangalore with 10% share at 0.11 MnT.
BRPL exported 114,500 MT in Jun’17: BRPL- exported 114,500 MnT pellets during in Jun’17. The pellet maker had exported only 164,500 MT in Jun’16.
Rashmi Metaliks- Exported 110,000 MT in Jun’17: Rashmi Metaliks has exported 110,000 MnT pellets in Jun’17. There were no exports from Rashmi Metaliks in the month of Jun last year.
KIOCL, has exported 110,000 MT followed by Essar Steel (109,000), JSPL (99110 MT) and Bagadiya Brothers (55,000 MT).
China- the largest export destination from India: India exported 0.33 MnT iron ore to China which consists of around 56% share of total pellet exports from India in the month of Jun’17. The other countries material was exported to are Vietnam around 18% with 0.11 MnT, Malaysia 9% with 0.06 MnT and UAE 8% with 0.06 MnT quantities.

India Pellet Imports: Pellet imports from Indian buyers continues to be nil for the current fiscal.
