According to preliminary custom data, South African Manganese Ore export witnessed a substantial increase of 41% to around 1.37 MnT in May’17 as compared to the previous month. In Apr’16, the South African Manganese Ore stood at 0.97 MnT.
Moreover, on yearly basis, South African Manganese Ore export is up by 19% in May’17 against 1.15 MnT in May’16.
China’s Manganese Ore Imports
China stands out to be the largest importer of South African manganese ore which imported 0.70 MnT in May’17 followed by India, Japan and Malaysia among others. China witnessed an increase of 17% M-o-M in its South African Manganese Ore imports in May’17.
Global Manganese Ore Scenario
Seaborne manganese ore prices are expected to drift down on lull in demand from China, and as market participants waited for new offers but eyed lower prices for August shipment.
Manganese Ore price for 37% carbonate ore from South Africa was heard at USD 5.4/dmtu CNF India.
