Indian Bar and Rod Production Rose by 11% M-o-M

As per the recent data released by the Joint Plant Committee, Indian bar and rod production surge by 11% in May’17 to 3.10 MnT against 2.80 MnT in Apr’17.

However Y-o-Y analysis the production fell marginally by 0.2%, against 3.11 MnT in May’16.

Out of overall bar and rod production for the month, the integrated/large steel players contributed around 35% and rest is contributed by the Medium and small scale players.

There was a remarkable growth in long steel production by JSW with 20.9% in May’17 to 0.3 MnT followed by RINL (16.7%), JSPL (10.3%) and TATA Steel (5.8%).

Similarly, production by medium and small scale producers also shoot up by 14% to 2.10 MnT in May’17 against 1.84 MnT in Apr’17.

Further coming to total bar and rod production in the first 5 months of CY17 stood at 15.140 MnT up by 7.8% against 14.034 MnT in the preceding last year.

Long Steel Production:

As per the data maintained by SteelMint Statistics, the overall long steel production (Including Structure and Railway Material) sharply rose by 7% M-o-M to 3.80 MnT as compared to 3.55 MnT in Apr’17.
