China-Plate Export Offers Increases Amid Price Surge in Domestic Market

Chinese manufacturers have raised the plate export offers by USD 5-10/MT W-o-W over optimistic market sentiments in the domestic market.Plate export offers surged this week in the backdrop of higher domestic prices in China.

Current plate export offers are assessed in the range of USD 440-445/MT, FoB China.Last week the prices was in the range of USD 435-440/MT,FoB basis.

Meanwhile domestic prices of plate are assessed in the range of RMB 3,250-3,330/MT which is equivalent to USD 477-484/MT including VAT.

Major mills in China have increased the plate export offers by USD 10-15/MT and are heard in the range of USD 450-455/MT.Surge in export offers lead to weak buying interest among the overseas buyers.Since Chinese mills are reluctant to decline plate export offers amid bullish sentiments experienced in the domestic market.

India-Plate Prices Remain Steady Amid Weak Buying in Domestic Market
Indian manufactures have kept the plate prices stable this week amid thin buying activity prevails in the domestic market.Indian steelmakers are not taking any fresh stocks since they are waiting for GST to roll out on 1st Jul’17.

However in major markets plate prices are hovering in the range of INR 39,000/MT (ex-Delhi) and INR 38,500-39,000/MT (ex-Mumbai). Prices are inclusive of Excise duty of 12.5%,VAT/CST extra.
