According to preliminary custom data, Brazil’s Manganese Ore export witnessed a massive increase of 133% on M-o-M basis to 0.14 MnT in May’17, as compared to the previous month. In Apr’17 Brazilian Manganese Ore exports were recorded at 0.06 MnT.
However, on yearly basis, Brazil manganese Ore exports are down by 18% in May’17 against 0.17 MnT in May’16.
Brazilian Manganese Ore Imports by China
China being one of the largest importer of Brazilian manganese ore, witnessed a mammoth increase of 300% M-o-M in its imports in May’17. It is understood that there were some supply disruptions from South Africa and Gabon, which resulted in the Chinese to procure aggressively from Brazil. Argentina and Mexico stood out to be the second and third largest importers of Brazilian Manganese Ore in May’17 at 0.06 MnT and 0.01 MnT respectively.
Presently, the Manganese Ore prices are trending upwards on account of robust demand and high price acceptability by Chinese buyers.
Also, there is a major shortage high grade Manganese Ore in China accounting a spike in demand for the ore.
