Arcelor Mittal to increase mining production

“Arcelor Mittal plans to increase mining to be less dependent on suppliers like BHP Billiton Ltd and Rio Tinto Plc,” said Die Welt.

Frank Schulz, head of Arcelor Mittal's German unit, said in an interview with the newspaper that the company producing  54.1 million metric tons of ore and 8 million metric tons of coal has placed a top priority on securing resources.

Die Welt also reported that Arcelor Mittal already produces 42% of the iron ore it uses and aims to increase that to 77% by the year 2015 using deposits in Canada and Libera.
