Pig Iron prices remain
same on account of low production and higher raw material cost. Experts feel
that appreciating Rupee might keep Pig Iron prices firm as imports of scrap, the other alternative for steel making will be
expensive.
“Demand for Steel Grade Pig Iron is weak in Durgapur whereas
Foundry Grade Pig Iron is not available. With the fall in Ingot prices, it is
expected that manufacturers will reduce their Pig Iron prices to keep the demand
intact. Durgapur Steel Grade Pig Iron trades at Rs. 27,000/MT (Basic price) ,” said a city based trader.
Steel Grade Pig Iron trading prices remain unchanged at
places like Raipur and Rourkela at Rs. 28,000/MT (Basic price) and Rs. 26,200/MT
(Basic prices) respectively.
Hyderabad Steel Grade Pig Iron is offered at Rs. 25,600/MT (Ex-works)
while that of Goa is quoted at Rs. 27,500/MT (Ex-works).
